In 1907, Szablya founded the artists's group, Kéve. Members were students at his private school; their aims - based on Simay's experiences with the Vienna Hagenbund - were to continue the unifying tendencies that had appeared in architecture and book illustrations, or in textile design. As Hungary's most famous member of the first era of the Hagenbund, Simay played an important role in connection with the first contact between Vienna and Budapest.
