ca. 1613/15, Artist: Adriaen de Vries
Adriaen de Vries was one of Giambologna’s most important pupils. As court sculptor to Rudolf II in Prague he created portraits of the emperor and small bronzes as well as monumental garden statuary. In its ponderosity and the almost sketchy modelling of many of the details this figure of Christ differs noticeably from the smooth, cool elegance of Giambologna’s figures.
