Budapest ans Vienna

The exhibition "A Time of Awakening" at the Palais Harrach is organised by the Kunsthistorisches Museum in conjunction with the Collegium Hungaricum; it documents the artistic and cultural relationship between Austria and Hungary since the beginning of the 20th century. A direct confrontation between Hungarian and Austrian artworks will illustrate similarities and differences for the first time. In the exhibition, the two styles - Historicism and Art Nouveau - which existed in both countries more or less concurrently and which vied with each other despite their many similarities, will be presented side by side.
