Georges Rodenbach contributed poems to the publication; Sigfried Bing edited it. Rippl-Rónai's somewhat post-impressionistic French paintings from the 1890's are characterised by their subdued, greyish colour scheme with accentuated forms between decorative contours. His oeuvre also includes works classed as belonging to the applied arts - embroideries, gobelins, plates, glasses, and pieces of furniture. In January 1896, works by him were included in a group show at the Salon Gurlitt in Berlin.
In 1897, his exhibition at the Salon Art Nouveau was opened by Bing. In 1899, ten of his paintings were included in an exhibition by the Nabis held at the Galerie Durant-Ruel in Paris. In that year he also stayed some months at the birthplace of Maillol, Banyuls sur Mer.
