1660/70, Artist: Jacques d’ Arthois
This landscape and its counterpart (Inv.-No. GG 422) were acquired from the Jesuit College in Bruges in 1776. The figure depicted is the Polish nobleman Stanislaus Kostka (1550–1568; canonised 1726). He had entered the Jesuit Order against his father’s will in 1567, after visiting the Jesuit College in Vienna and then walking from there to Rome.
