ca. 1518, Artist: Hans Daucher
Active in Augsburg, Hans Daucher was among the foremost sculptors of the early Renaissance in Germany. He specialized in small reliefs that showcase his virtuoso technique. Both the ornamentation of his works and his use of central perspective to depict space are informed by Italian models. He derived his familiarity with the latter mainly from prints.
