ca. 1588/1600; dated 1608 (mounting), Artist: Ottavio Miseroni , (Krug)
The task of assembling stone vessels from their various parts and attaching feet or handles was a goldsmith’s job. At the Prague court, however, stonecutters, goldsmiths and jewellers often cooperated already in designing the objects, and painters and sculptors might also be involved. The resulting works attained that ideal of exclusivity that the Emperor thought appropriate for his collection.
